The Gift and the Defender (working title) is an allegorical expression of mankind’s sinful nature and our inability to save ourselves, contrasted by faith, vocation, and love for one’s neighbor.  So what does that mean?   Well, it is literary fiction with strong commercial handles. It is an adventure story dipped in tones of fantasy (no elves, dwarfs, or hobbits – sorry) and rubbed dry with the abrasive towel of reality.  The novel consists of two interweaving plotlines that follow the happenings of two unique, yet similar protagonists.  The dichotomy takes cues from St. Augustine’s Two Cities, capturing the idea in an exciting medieval adventure contrasted by superhuman self-exploration, in New York City.  This novel is intended to be the first in a series.  The nature of the book allows it to be a great ’stand alone’ as well as the foundation for several other titles involving some of the supporting characters in varying degrees of connection.

Hemlock is a novel combining free verse poetry and first  person narrative prose loosely based on the spontaneous prose style made famous by Jack Kerouac. Loosely? Yeah - I revise. There are many liberal pastors and influential church leaders today that believe the Church needs to embrace the culture. Within this ilk exists the idea that Christian leaders need to employ more poetry, lyricism, and various other sorts of artistic measures to reach and broaden their audience. This book is aimed at those cool cats, using their own weapons against them if you will.  In keeping with Kerouac’s spontaneous method I will be releasing readings of the poetic section of this book as soon as I complete them via YouTube.
