About

I am writer bent on expressing, in a creative and thought-provoking way, the teachings of the historic Christian church: that Jesus Christ was crucified, died, and rose from the dead for the forgiveness of sins. The majority of my efforts are in the realm of fiction, although I also utilize other means of expressing the written word such as, song, poetry, creative non-fiction, non-fiction, and commentary. I recognize that we live in an image based culture so in addition to writing I also like to express my views through visual arts, including photography, satirical cartoons, video, and whatever else I can come up with.
My endeavors are not exclusively “Christian” although, none of them are detached from the truth entirely. Put simply, as an artist my beliefs most definitely influence my work.
As a Christian, I believe that nothing is as important as the message of hope found in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As a writer I can’t think of a better purpose for the written word than to convey the truth of the Word. There is a strong voice in the public square today claiming to represent Christianity. Much of this which claims to bear Christ’s name is actually butchery: pagan beliefs infused with a watered down Christianity, biometrically opposing the true teaching of the church. These works hurt the Church.
It is my intent to add to the confessional voice of the historic Christian church by putting forth material for the enjoyment of all readers and viewers, despite their religious background, while at the same time pointing them to the Biblical message of true Christianity. There are many formats in which the theology of the cross is presented. Upon inspection, it would seem that the continually growing literary genre of Christian fiction is one area of engagement that could use a traditional voice proclaiming Christian truths. Therein lies my primary goal - to produce gripping fiction which moves readers to the true understanding of real Christianity by providing material that requires reflection.
Of course, I recognize that there are many writers faithfully fulfilling their Christian and occupational vocations, by producing honest representations of the Christian worldview, both implicitly and explicitly. This encourages me to no end. It seems, however, that today’s culture is defined by the loudest voice. I think it should be one with substance!
